“September Tango”

September 2, 2013 by Mia Fox Leave a Comment

When I heard that the male POV was written by author Scarlett Jade’s husband, I had to check out this book that is loosely based on their own romance. Here’s the synopsis:

The town of Major is nothing more than a major disappointment for Zoe Parker. She is living in a grey world after the death of her beloved Momma, and can’t seem to shake the growing depression that threatens to consume her. Things only get worse when she discovers her longtime boyfriend is banging every chick in town.

Her daddy is gone most nights, and all she can think about is the boy who really caught her eye in high school more than five years ago… The one with gorgeous dark skin and smoldering eyes… Too bad he was dating her best friend. Now she floats around, moving through the daily routine with small dreams about getting away from the small town, and finding a real man to claim her heart.

Staff Sergeant Calvin Hall of the US Army is finally putting his boots back on American soil for some R&R. It’s been five years since he joined the military, and he hasn’t looked back since. After dealing with his own troubling past, he wants to lay back and enjoy some time to put it all behind him. But fate has other plans for him. A beautiful woman snags his attention the first day in town and the pull between them is too strong to resist. The problem? She is his ex-girlfriend’s best friend, she is just as broken as he is, and he has a war he has to get back to in two weeks.

Who says a summer romance ever has to end? What if thousands of miles and a war separated you? Would you keep dancing? Or would it simply be… a September Tango?

Answering Your Questions…

August 30, 2013 by Mia Fox Leave a Comment

Normally, I ask another author to guest post on Fridays, but today I was asked to answer some questions in preparation of the Summer’s End Sizzlin’ Sale starting tomorrow. So here it goes…a peek into my mind. (Don’t worry. I’m having a PG morning.)

1. Favorite Book Cover
DieforMe
Without a doubt, “Die for Me” by Amy Plum is my current favorite cover. I was lucky enough to visit Paris this month so I’m just dying myself to get my hands on this book.

But with so many beautiful covers, how can I pick just one? I can’t…I also love “Star Kissed” by Lizzy Ford.

2. Main Source of Inspiration
The benefits of an active imagination are that I find inspiration in the most mundane of daily experiences. I’ve also got super keen hearing…I’m talking dog ears…and my bad habit of eavesdropping in the grocery checkout line always gives me something to write about.

3. Secret Food Addiction
Brown sugar. I love it on bananas, in sauces, you name it! It even goes in my coffee.

4. Dream Hottie
I’m not unlike many of my readers in that I imagine spending a night with James from “Released” would be pretty amazing. And, if he looks like this…even more reason.

5. Favorite Quote
As a writer I often think of Steve Martin’s words: “Be so good they can’t ignore you.” And, I can’t just leave you with one quote because this adaptation of Ghandi’s words are too brilliant to not include: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Words to live by.

Today is release day for author Cambria Hebert’s “Charmed,” a new adult book. In celebration of the release, Cambria is holding an epic FB party starting at 7 p.m. EST. FB Party

For a new perspective on life and death, and how Charming works as a Death Escort, check out this promising book.

Life or Death? Not many people would choose death. But what if death chooses you? What if death doesn’t mean the end of your life, but the beginning?

For a Death Escort, death is life. Death is your paycheck. Death is your job.

And Charming is the best Escort the Grim Reaper has ever had.

But when you piss off the Reaper, being the best doesn’t matter. So Charming is assigned a Target who is practically impossible to kill. He knows the Reaper hopes he fails—that he’s counting on it. So Charming vows to prove him wrong. He vows to make the kill.

But someone else vows to get in his way. Someone with a big mouth, a sugar habit, and blond hair. Someone who makes his heart start beating again.

And so Charming is left holding more than one person’s fate in the palm of his hand. He thought the choice would be easy, that there really wasn’t a question at all.

He was wrong. Life or Death?
