Romantic Things to do at the Beach

June 22, 2015 by Mia Fox Leave a Comment

    beachromance

There’s a good reason why the beach is a prime spot for romance. During the day the sun on the water glistens like a diamond and at night the glow of the moon is equally breathtaking. In light of my upcoming book, “Malibu Angel,” being set at the beach, I’ve listed five top romantic things to do at the beach.

Profess Your Love in the Sand

Sure, it’s fun to make sand castles, but creating visual testaments of your love in the sand is even better. You can simply make a heart with you and your loved one’s initials, or go a step further and write a poem before the ocean takes your thoughts out to sea.

    Message in a Bottle

These days, we know that throwing a bottle out to sea isn’t very environmentally friendly. But, here’s an updated way to send a message out to sea. Grab a large stone,  use paint or chalk to write a love message and toss it with all your might. Your thoughts will be forever with the ocean.

    Picnic by Day or Night

Let’s face it…food and romance go together. Whether you’re having a picnic during the day or an evening feast, enjoying your food on the beach somehow makes it taste just a bit better.

Can you rub suncream on my shoulders?

Have you heard that line? It’s an oldie, but a goodie. When your loved one looks like they’re getting a little fried, or even if they’re not, offer to massage the suncream onto their shoulders and then take some extra time around their neck and back. It’s an appropriate way to get close.

    Take a beach walk.

The great thing about taking a walk on the beach is that there isn’t a need for words. Simply holding hands, feeling the ocean breeze and gazing at the water while it nips at your toes is an ideal way to spend time with someone you care about.

    Returned Completes Romani Realms Series

May 11, 2015 by Mia Fox Leave a Comment

Returned, book 3 of the Romani Realms series

It’s not every day that I get to post about a cover reveal for one of my own books. And I have to tell you…it’s a thrill for me, sort of like going to the makeup counter and taking those goodies home to unpack their beautiful wrappings and admire what’s inside. It never gets old. Returned completes the Romani Realms Series and today is its cover debut!

So without further ado, here is the synopsis for this final book of this YA paranormal series with elements of steampunk for those who like a bit of Industrial Revolution with their romance.

Returning to the Romani Realms was the last thing they wanted…

Samantha defied death and returned home from the Romani Realms, but a piece of her heart remained. She never expected to find love in the forsaken purgatory, but meeting Daniel, a permanent resident of the Realms, was a salvation she cherished.

Charlotte wants nothing more than to make a life with Phineas, the demon gypsy who holds her heart dear. They have finally put past atrocities behind them, along with Phineas’ allegiance to his former lover, Raven. But their future depends on finding their way back to Shadow, the infant that will one day be born from their union, but for now resides as a young child in the Romani Realms.

As a genie, Suki has watched over Samantha and Charlotte, while James, her Shade and supernatural protector, has patiently supported her. But his duty to her and their entire relationship threatens to end when one Releasor is discovered to harbor corrupt wishes.

Each one has reasons to stay, but is equally justified in wanting to go back. Their choice may be an irrevocable one, but ultimately they decide to be…Returned.

If you would like to add this book to your Goodreads‘ To Be Read list, just click the link. Can’t wait to share more with you in the coming weeks. I expect this book to be out on June 13th!

    Sleeping with the Sandman

November 1, 2014 by Mia Fox Leave a Comment

Keep your eyes open for “Sleeping with the Sandman,” my latest edition to the Surprise Passion series of light, erotic novelettes. At double the length of all of the others in the series, this one has received accolades from early readers.

It’s the story of 25-year-old Savannah whose relationship with Sandman, the mythical creation of childhood dreams, is decidedly more adult in this particular story. Read on for the official synopsis:

Plagued by memories of the fire that claimed her family when she was younger, Savannah suffers from insomnia and nightmares. Although she is seeking help, Savannah finds that the best therapy is when Sandman visits her at night and not only soothes her mind, but also her body.

He is the only man she dares allow in her bed for fear that her issues would scare off a mere mortal. However, what starts off as a chance encounter with Jed, a handsome stranger, becomes a repeated occurrence as Savannah continually runs into him at a local coffee house. As much as the idea of dating Jed is appealing to her, she won’t accept his advances.

Can nightly visits from her other-worldly suitor help Savannah to move on with her life and take a chance on love with Jed? Or, will she decide that Sleeping with the Sandman is safer and more satisfying?

“Sleeping with the Sandman” will be available on Sunday, November 9, 2014. In the meantime, you can add it to your Goodreads’ TBR list here.

    What is Social Satire?

October 6, 2014 by Mia Fox Leave a Comment

If you only like books with perfect, happy people who love kittens and share meaningful romantic interludes with buff men, my upcoming book, “Keeping Up” is not for you. It’s a peek into the lives of the residents of an exclusive, gated community and how they all desire to keep up with each other. But exactly, what is social satire?

This genre shines a light on a part of our society and yes, even pokes fun at it. Some people may hate me for it, but I explore the need that we have to compete with each other. And, I don’t mean in the workplace or on a sports field. I’m talking about competition where it really doesn’t belong.

The women of “Keeping Up” compete for who has the best house and garden, whose husband is most successful, who drives the fanciest car, and even who can get pregnant before the others and once that child is old enough, who can get them into the most exclusive of schools. Does that sound like a life you would want to live in? I hope not, but I also hope you’ll get a good laugh from reading about it.

And, if you absolutely hate my characters, I just might be doing something right.

You can add “Keeping Up” to your Goodreads TBR list here.
